Liz volunteers at our South East Centre and wanted to share her experience of volunteering after retiring as a teacher.

When I retired from teaching, I wanted to be a volunteer to give something back. I decided to volunteer for Brainwave as it’s such a worthwhile cause and it’s a charity that is in my local community, as Brainwave has it's South East Center based in Witham, where I live.

I volunteer around fundraising within the local community, it is important also to raise the local profile of Brainwave. I have helped visiting local businesses asking them to get involved and support Brainwave events. I will also help at local fundraising events in the future and I very much look forward to getting involved with this.

This charity is dear to my heart, as it’s providing invaluable therapy for children who need this. Their work with these children is very moving and truly inspiring. I enjoy giving my time to help a charity in my local community, that I feel is so important, and that I have a special connection with. It’s a great privilege to feel part of the Brainwave Team and feel that I am helping in some small way.
