We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to join our wonderful Team at the Brainwave Retail Centre.  You will be helping to ensure that our 21 Charity Shops have the provisions they need to raise much-needed funds for the Charity - helping more children reach their full potential.

A varied and exciting role working within our Warehouse, your role will include the sorting of donations for resale or recycling and assisting the Team with stock within the warehouse.  When we are busy, you may be asked to help with general office tasks which may include taking shop orders and laminating for example.

No two days will be the same and we look forward to hearing from you soon!

Role Title:

Volunteer Retail Centre Assistant

Location of Position: Brainwave Retail Centre - Marsh Lane, Huntworth Gate, Bridgwater, Somerset. TA6 6LQ
Responsible to:

Group IT & Retail Business Support Officer

Purpose/Summary of Role: Assist in the efficient running of the Retail Centre to support our network of Charity Shops across the South West.  The profits generated by our shop are used to support our work.  The shops also play a significant role in the promotion of the image and work of Brainwave.
Description of Tasks:
  • Helping with the sorting of donations including the labelling of donations.

  • Helping with the organisation within the warehouse which may include stock checks.

  • May including some general administration including the taking of shops orders, laminating, filing and the production of posters if we are proving particularly busy.
Time Commitment:
  • Be able to volunteer on a consistent basis at the Retail Centre

  • There will be a trial period of one month

  • This is expected to be an ongoing role
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Volunteers should be friendly and helpful with good communication skills

  • The ability to get on with people and work as a team

  • Friendly, enthusiastic and open to giving and receiving feedback to and from the Retail Centre Team

  • Basic numeracy

  • Warehouse or Retail experience desirable but not essential

  • Willingness to participate in the relevant training and information update session
Training & Support:
  • You will be given induction training into the various aspects of the work

  • Ongoing training and support will be given as required and you will have opportunities to meet with the staff members and volunteers
