Volkswagen enthusiasts raise over £30,000 Run the Ring is a Volkswagen enthusiasts group which each year traverses the entire 117 mile M25 to raise much needed fund for good causes, and this year the group chose to support Brainwave. On Sunday 23 September, whilst the rest of the country sheltered away from the torrential rain and strong winds, over 700 VW vehicles braved the weather and convoyed around the M25. People came from all corners of the UK, some even from the continent, to take part in the special event. The Brainwave team did not miss out, instead they were invited to join in and members of the group kindly chauffeured our staff and volunteers, some were treated to a Champagne Cruise in a 1971 Campervan which was even equipped with a disco ball! “The Ringers” held various fundraising events, collected donations on line and their registration fees were also donated, we’re pleased to say that they smashed their fundraising target raising over £30,000 for Brainwave. This will go towards supporting children with disabilities and additional needs that attend our South East Centre in Witham, Essex. Lauren Scott, Associate Regional Fundraising Manager said: We would like to thank everyone that either took part, organised, donated, or helped to spread the word about Run The Ring. It has been inspirational to see so many people getting behind the event, and putting in a lot of love, hard work and time into making it happen. We have been overwhelmed with the money raised for Brainwave and every penny raised by Run The Ring will go towards helping more children with disabilities to achieve their full potential, and for that we are truly grateful.
