Brainwave is bringing back its popular Strictly Summer event for 2020.

The event will see 10 volunteers from the business world partner up with professional dancers from Cadmans Dance Centre for the ultimate summer dance contest. The team of novice dancers will be vying for the chance to lift the coveted Brainwave trophy as Strictly Summer Champions 2020!

The event will once again take place at The Mere Golf and Spa Resort in Knutsford on Saturday 27 June. Dancers will have from now until then to learn their dances and in some cases, learn how to dance!

One of the competitors, Stephen Taylor representing One Warrington Conservatives, confessed: “I have never danced in my life before apart from the usual disco dancing after a drink or two! I have attended many Brainwave events over the years, and it’s an amazing charity that I love to support.

“I am really looking forward to meeting my professional partner and learning to dance; I’m not totally sure I am confident about how things will go on the night, but whatever the outcome, it’s all in aid of a great cause.”

Another novice dancer taking part Sara Mullins, Director of Sales at Pentahotel Warrington said: “Having no coordination and two left feet makes this a really tough personal challenge but I’m hoping to have some fun, learn something new and raise money for this incredible charity.”

The aim of this fabulous event is to raise vital funds for Brainwave - a children’s charity which helps children with disabilities achieve greater independence through a range of specialist therapies.

Event organiser and Regional Fundraiser at Brainwave, Joanne Freeman said: “I am so excited to bring back Strictly Summer for 2020. Last year’s event was such a fun and fabulous evening – all of the dancers were amazing, and their hard work in training really paid off.

“I can’t wait to see what this year’s dancers bring to the dance floor in June. We are incredibly grateful that they are taking on this brilliant challenge for Brainwave and helping us to raise vital funds for our charity.”

Another dancer that has been announced to take part in this year’s event is Max Eden of Hale Barns Carnival. He said: “I am thrilled to be part of this year’s Brainwave Strictly Summer event, it’s a fantastic and deserving charity. My day job is all about producing big festivals and I know how beneficial these live events can be for a charity fundraiser.

“The professionals have the challenge of turning my two left feet into something that’s fab-u-lous darling, it’s going to be a very entertaining night!”

Shruti Passi from Passi Marketing Ltd has also signed up to take part and is equally as enthusiastic, she said: “I’m really excited to be part of this event which is a great opportunity to help raise awareness and funds for an amazing charity. It will be taking me out of my comfort zone but will be a lot of fun – bring on the dancing!”

Tamsin Caine from Smart Financial may have the edge in the competition as she admitted to some previous dance experience: “I am doing Strictly because it’s an amazing opportunity to learn to dance, which I haven’t done since I did ballet as a child and teenager. It’s also great to be able to support such a fabulous charity.”

This event is kindly supported by The Mere Golf Resort and Spa, Hale and Didsbury Salutions Publishing and Event Station.
