On 6 September 2017, 7 friends started their 4 day cycling challenge to raise money for Brainwave.  Starting from the London Eye, the group set out to complete the 350 mile route travelling across 4 different countries to reach the end come rain or shine! Over the course of the event they climbed 6,106 feet, picked up 4 punctures, made 3 trips to repair bike shops and burned off a whopping 10,255 calories per rider. Three of the team were even involved in 2 separate crashes but luckily they came off relatively unscathed with only minor injuries and damage to the bikes. Half a mile of the journey was also unexpectedly made on foot whilst attempting to carry bike’s across sand, when their intended route was found to be a dug up road! But…we’re glad to say that this didn’t deter them and on the 9 September they pedalled across the Finish Line and arrived in Dam Square, Amsterdam.

Aside from the Cycling Challenge, the team have currently raised just under £2,000 including gift aid which we are extremely grateful for! 20% of this will go directly to supporting 3 year old Abbie who is the daughter of their colleague, and attends Brainwave’s South West Centre, in Essex, for therapy.

Congratulations to the 7 riders involved, and the 2 drivers that supported them, on completing the London to Amsterdam Cycling Challenge and thank you to everyone that sponsored them!
