A team of eight of us are planning to undertake a daunting Dawn ’til Dusk Challenge to raise funds for Brainwave which is a charity that works with families in the North West to deliver individual home based therapies and exercises to help children with disabilities and developmental delay reach their full potential.

The challenge is a 4am start in Shropshire on 10th June with a 35km canoe journey to Llangollen in North Wales – then a 85km bike ride through Snowdonia from Llangollen to Llanberis and finally an ascent and descent of Snowdon all before the sun goes down 18 hours later.

By necessity it’s very well organised with a team of professionals supporting us including a motor cycle outrider, support vehicles, trained medics and mountain guides etc and to date we have been generously supported by customers and contacts who have committed to provide food, drink, accommodation, vehicles, equipment etc

We are looking to raise funds to provide much needed support for Charlie who is 5 years old and from Cheshire.

Charlie was born with cerebral palsy…there is no cure for the condition, however with the treatment and therapies provided by Brainwave, Charlie can be helped to be as independent as possible and with your support we hope that Charlie will be able to take his first unaided steps during the next 12 months. I have to be honest with you…I’m not actually doing the challenge…there are younger, fitter people than me able and willing to do so, but I am massively involved with the planning, organisation and support on the day which is essential for the success of the challenge….like the day job, “teamwork makes the dream work”!

It would be great if you could support us and I attach a Virgin Giving page for your use http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/PJE. Alternatively you can send me a cheque payable to the RBS or if you wish to make an electronic payment please let me know and I will advise you of the account details.

Following the challenge we will be “collapsing” and staying over at Plas Colwyn in Beddgelert, the owners have kindly donated £1,200 to the charity to enable us to do this.  They are also offering to donate 10% of the booking price, to the event, to anyone quoting RBSChallenge when booking a stay at this beautiful 9 bedroom holiday home.  Please see their website for availability, pricing and further details on the property www.plascolwyn.co.uk.
