Following the Prime Minister’s update on Monday 4 January, we wanted to let you know how Brainwave and our services will be affected during the new national lockdown.

Therapy assessments

Our virtual therapy service, Brainwave Online, will remain available for families who are currently following a Brainwave Therapy Programme throughout this new lockdown period. In the coming weeks, we will also be looking at how we can provide online support for families who have not previously used our services.

We have temporarily suspended all face-to-face assessments until further notice. Families that had face-to-face assessments booked in for January and February are being contacted by our team and will be offered a Brainwave Online assessment.

Hydrotherapy pool

The Hydrotherapy pool at our South West Centre will be closed during the new national lockdown period and will not be available for therapy use or for use by external groups.

Retail shops

All of our retail shops will remain closed, due to the restrictions around "non-essential" retail and will reopen when we are able to do so.

Support for families

We know that this continues to be a challenging time for everyone, and we want to continue supporting Brainwave families as much as we can. We urge families to get in touch with our Family Facilitators if they have any questions or if they need any support:

With the closure of our retail shops and ongoing restrictions on fundraising, our charity’s finances continue to be significantly impacted. If you are in a position to support Brainwave in any way – thank you, it is very much appreciated.

With your support, our team are able to help children with disabilities continue to make incredible progress. You can read some inspiring stories from families in the digital version of Brainwave News.

Whilst we would have wished to start 2021 in a better way, there does seem to be light at the end of the tunnel with the UK roll-out of vaccinations.

We understand that this new national lockdown is necessary to protect lives and we very much look forward to the day when we can welcome you back to our Therapy Centres, our retail shops and our fundraising events.

In the meantime, take care and stay safe.
