UK Illusionist, Sean Alexander, opens up about his son’s brain damage in a charity single in aid of Brainwave.

Sean ‘The Confusionist’ Alexander, award-winning Illusionist and member of The Magic Circle, has written a heartfelt song about his son who suffered brain damage at birth.

‘Stronger’, featuring the vocal talents of Julie Maguire, expresses the incredible and inspirational journey that Sean’s son, Alfie, has been on. Alfie, now three years old, suffers from a condition known as Hydrocephalus, a build-up of fluid in the brain which can be life threatening. The excess fluid puts pressure on the brain, which can cause damage to it and 1 in 1000 babies develop the condition.

Sean wanted to raise money for a charity that helps children, like Alfie, achieve greater independence through speech and language therapy and physiotherapy, which is why Sean wanted the proceeds from the sale of the single to go to Brainwave.

Sean expressed:

Alfie is a mischievous, funny character who lights up the room, he is a fighter and a joy to be around. I wrote this song from my heart which is bursting with pride at how far he has come and what he has achieved in just three years.

I wanted to raise vital funds for Brainwave by releasing this as a charity single because I’ve seen how their work transforms the lives of children with disabilities, and their families, through their specialist Therapy Programme, delivered by their qualified therapists.

At Brainwave, we support children with various conditions including cerebral palsy, autism, developmental delay, and Down syndrome. We also support children with no official diagnosis and can assist families in accessing our services through a means-tested Priority Fund.
