Run The Ring Bunny comes to Brainwave

One very special bunny called Bubbles has travelled 422 miles in just 3 days to visit our three therapy centres in Somerset, Cheshire and Essex to help raise awareness of Brainwave, Bubbles and his three friends belong to the Volkswagen enthusiast group, ‘Run The Ring’ and each have been making their own way around the country. The travelling bunnies aim to raise awareness for children with disabilities and additional needs and have been meeting many of the children and their families that we support.

Bubbles was named by 3 year old Alexandra, when the two were introduced at her recent reassessment. Like many of the children we see, Alexandra adores bubbles, and they are frequently used by our therapists to motivate children to take part in therapy activities. Therefore, with the help of Alexandra and her family, we appropriately named our new bunny friend, Bubbles! Bubbles will now go on to continue her journey with Run The Ring.

We’ll next see Bubbles on Sunday 23 September for the main event, when up to 1,000 VW’s will join together to complete a full lap of the M25 in convoy. This year the group has chosen to support Brainwave and are hoping to raise significant funds for us.

Community Fundraising Manager, Lauren Scott, said “We are so grateful to Run The Ring for choosing to raise money for Brainwave this year. So far we have been blown away by the enthusiasm and support from everyone involved in the event. The Run The Ring community have all been fantastic and we can’t wait to be part of it on the day. Watching 100’s of decorated VWs, new and vintage, travelling our motorways will be a sight to see! Of course, we also wish Bubbles and his fellow bunnies the best of luck as they continue their adventures across the UK!”

If you own a VW or know someone that does and would like to be part of this momentous event, then you can visit their Facebook page for more information. Tickets are £25 and include your very own Run The Ring car sticker.
