2017 Royal Parks Half Marathon On Sunday 8 October, 13 runners took on the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Brainwave. This included an almighty team of 9 from ICS. Well known for its beautiful scenery, the 13.1 mile route took runners through 4 Royal Parks (Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James’s Park and Green Park) and past some of the most iconic landmarks including Buckingham Palace and the Royal Albert Hall. The weather did not disappoint, staying bright and sunny, making for perfect running conditions and showcasing all the parks had to offer. The route was not short of spectators with friends and family members attending to cheer on their loved ones, and of course Brainwave’s staff and volunteers were there to offer extra encouragement at miles 7 and 10. We’re pleased to say that all the runners did incredibly well and we’d like to congratulate them for completing the race. A special well done to the 5 individuals that managed a Personal Best time, including Fiona, who secured an extra £100 for Brainwave because of this! So far the Royal Parks runners have raised a staggering £6,500 between them! Lastly we’d like to share some comments and photos from our wonderful runners: Was a great race, well organised and the support is amazing. All in all a great day, and glad I was able to raise the amount I did for the charity! Phew I did it! It was lovely to see another Brainwave runner en route and the Brainwave cheer team at mile 10, gave me a much needed boost.
