We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience of using a range of interventions and strategies to support the complex communication needs of children with learning disabilities and profound and multiple learning disabilities.

Job Summary: The therapist is responsible for assessing, identifying, and reviewing a child’s speech, language and communication needs as an integral part of the multi-professional team.  This specialist assessment contributes to the child’s home-based programme which is taught to the parents in order for them to be confident to implement it over the following months.  Where appropriate Outpatient sessions can also be arranged to support the child’s speech, language, and communication goals.

Main duties and responsibilities: The post holder will work with children of all ages, presenting with a range of physical and cognitive disabilities.  The Charity seeks to maximise the outcomes of individual children by providing an individually designed, home based Programme of exercises, which parents and / or carers can practice during the week.

Brainwave works as closely as possible with NHS and educational mainstream services.

Location: The Brainwave Centre, Marsh Lane, Huntworth Gate, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 6LQ

(This will also involve working away from our main Bridgwater Centre delivering therapy at one of our Outreach Hubs, which are currently in, Cheshire, Essex, and Scotland.  This could be up to four times per year, for a maximum of 5/6 nights each time) 

Job Type/hours: 22.5 hours per week working (ideally Monday to Wednesday)

Required: HCPC and RCSLT registration is essential.

Salary: £31,365 to £37,890 pro-rata dependent on experience (based on FTE 37.5 hours working week) + benefits.
