Employee Fundraising

It's surprising the range of ideas that a small committee can come up with and how, given some encouragement, staff who are not normally the first to come forward, have many hidden talents which can come to the fore.

The London Stock Exchange was an exceptional partner for Brainwave, but this is what they said about its benefits to their workforce:

A team of around 15 volunteer staff from the LSE and an Officer from the Charity, met fortnightly to manage the partnership activities.

The staff appreciated the freedom they enjoyed to create, plan and deliver fundraising ideas. Amongst them were an eXchange factor competition, a calendar with staff heads superimposed on celebrity bodies, a recipe book composed of staff's choices.

Staff involvement in fundraising allowed individuals to excel in an environment where the traditional management hierarchy was irrelevant, thereby enhancing individuals' perceptions of themselves and those around them. Ten cross-departmental teams created opportunities for interaction between business areas that had previously had little or no contact with each other. Partnership activities resulted in hospitality opportunities and collaboration with important clients, enhancing many important relationships. The innovation shown by individuals to secure high fundraising returns can only be of benefit to a company operating in a competitive sales driven environment.

DOWN SYNDROME TESTIMONIAL - EMMA

I think Brainwave is brilliant. I'd been looking for this type of help, and although it took me three years, I know I've found it.

The therapists are fantastic; they are so supportive. At the Initial Assessment, they really gave us hope and made us feel there is something we can do to help Emma. They were there to help us, and to teach us how to help Emma.

So many people you see suggest that you do a bit of this, or that you do that, it can become quite mind-boggling. To have a clear and structured programme written down in a simple list that you know is addressing all her areas of development, is brilliant. You know then that you're doing as much as you can.

Although Emma had just taken a few steps when we started Brainwave a couple of months ago, I still can't quite get my head around seeing her walking about now. We started with working on her balance, and now she's doing so well.
