Santas show a dash of speed – 9th December 2012

Hundreds of Santas brought a ho-howhole lot of Christmas cheer to Birchwood on Sunday .

Runners from all over the country braved the wet weather to take part in the third Brainwave 5k Santa Dash and accompanying 1k parade to raise money for the charity which provides therapy programmes for children with disabilities such as autism and cerebral palsy.

DJ Pete Pinnington led a Santa jive warm-up whilst Mayor of Warrington Cllr Steve Wright, James Mendeika of Warrington Wolves and Sam Crossley,  encouraged dashers as they ran a circular route through the shopping centre and into Forest Park.

Joanne Freeman, Community Fundraising Manager said: “It went really well and everyone got into the festive spirit and had great fun. I want to thank all the dashmakers for making the event extra special. Spectrum Striders Running Club, Birchwood Lions and our sponsor Birchwood Shopping Centre, they have made this event a success..

“The money raised from the dash will be used to enable many more children to reach their full potential and fund our centre here in Birchwood, Warrington.”

Next year’s Brainwave Santa Dash will be on the 8th Dec 2013.
