We are delighted to announce that The Amycrofters Folk Dance Group have nominated Brainwave as their Charity of the Year for 2014. The duo from Honiton have already started fundraising and in December made an incredible £776 from their 3 events; official busking outside our Ottery St Mary and Honiton Shops and a collection outside Tesco in Honiton. This was a great boost to the two shops who have also been running raffles with some great donated gifts from the band. With more events planned, please keep up to date on their website www.amycrofters.co.uk The photo shows the band with some of the staff outside the Brainwave Shop in Honiton.
There is nothing like a bit of a challenge and the team from Aviation CARE like one of those. So it was that around 30 intrepid cyclist set out on a speedy cycle ride from RNAS Yeovilton to Lymington in the New Forest – with one mangled bike but, thankfully not a serious injury to the rider – they arrived tired but positive. A number of them had to remain positive as the next morning they were running in the New Forest Half Marathon. In high temperatures for the time of year, they battled to the finish line. Having raised over £7000 for Brainwave in the process they have, once again, lent considerable support to us for which we are so very grateful. A presentation was made to SW Community Fundraiser at their aircraft base in Yeovil.
